MICHAELA KICINOVA: Editor, Production Designer, Art Director, 1st/2nd Assistant Director

Michaela Kicinova is a young and creative visual filmmaker with passion for interior design linking to set design; fashion and clothes making linking to costume design; wood-carving linking to prop-making; and has always been in love with styling hair or doing make-up, including the SFX make-up.

In 2015 Michaela decided to follow her passion and go study Film Production in London at Middlesex University, where diversity of ideas and inspiration were all around her and she has had the chance to dip her toes in the art department of film in the first year. However only in second and third year she has embraced this calling  and set out to work mainly as a production designer and art director for films directed and produced by her peers in UK and abroad. Having the opportunity to work on many productions of various genres helped Michaela expand her knowledge of different fashion, hair and make-up and interior design through styles, cultures and eras.

During the last year of her studies, Michaela has designed and dressed more than a dozen sets; handled more than 30 unique props (from which over a dozen were hand-made from various materials); created over 20 costume, hair and make-up looks for all sorts of films from an art-house through drama to comedy. And many of these films have gone to various festivals in UK, mainland Europe and Hong Kong.

If she is not working in art department, you could find her editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer or Final Cut Pro. However, on set, Michaela might be the 1st AD as this is something that she has wanted to be before she fell in love with art direction, but also she could be found script supervising with her keen eye for detail and continuity.
